Ayrton Senna became the youngest ever three-time world champion, he won 41 Grands Prix and 65 pole positions, Over his career he drove for Williams, McLaren, Brabham, Lotus-Renault and Toleman.

Senna was recognised for his qualifying speed over one lap, he held the record for most pole positions. He was also acclaimed for his wet weather driving skills that are a joy to watch. He holds a record six victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, is the fifth-most successful driver of all time in terms of race wins and has won more races for McLaren than any other driver.

Sadly, 1994 Senna had a fatal crash in Imola, Italy. On lap 7 he lost control and hit a concrete retaining wall at 145 mph. Doctors later said no one could have survived with his injuries.

An estimated three million people flocked to the streets of Senna's home city of São Paulo to offer him their salute. This is widely accepted as the largest recorded gathering of mourners in modern times.
